What could you do differently?

My wife told me the other day that we’re lazy. The cold harsh truth. I figured since I own 2 businesses, have 4 hobbies, have 5 kids, and coach two little league teams, I wasn’t lazy but apparently she still hit me with some emotionally charged words.

I’ve spent the last couple days thinking hard about that statement and wondering what I could do differently. I think I’ve figured it out. I’ve been managing my time very inefficiently. She handed me a book, the 12 Week Year, and told me to read it before the end of the day. I took that as an inconsiderate task but she was confident I could do it.

It changed my entire thought process on productivity. No longer should I wait to plan my tasks for the year but begin by accomplishing them in bite sized chunks.

People underestimate what they can accomplish in a couple decades but over estimate what they can do in a year. What if your year was 12 weeks instead of 12 months?

That book is worth a read. You should read it now. Like right now. Thats something you can do differently.

Right now, for me, what I’d do differently is learn what makes me tick. I’m learning what works for me and what doesn’t, some things I wished I learned when I was younger. I’ve learned to compartmentalize my life and hobbies. Not by location of these items but by a completely different physical location I have to travel to. It works. I wish I would’ve done that a long time ago.
